Under Chinese regime
Under the regime of Jining Zhang and Lu An, KZINE became more than just a school paper. It became a way for people to meet new friends and have fun. The website developed both visually and functionally, and the winning of Lilla Journalistpriset 2008 earned KZINE 10 000 kronor. How will life for the old board look like after the year of 2009?
Both Editor-in-chief Jining Zhang and Responsible editor Philip Stålhandske are going to continue with writing, and will both study literature in the autumn. “It’s going to be English literature in Edinburgh for me”, says Jining. Secretary Louice Tapper Jansson will continue with studies abroad as well. “I’m going to study journalism at Cardiff, but first I’m going to take a gap year and work as a project leader for Ung Media here in Sweden”, she says. Image editor Filip Mesko will, in difference to the others, not continue with writing. “I’m going to study to become an architect, but at the same time I’ll work as a freelance photographer. I will probably shoot the cover of Disciplin’s CD”.
Remaining board members; Lu An, Victor Andrée and Elisabeth Abrahamsson don’t have any plans on continuing with media at the moment. “For me it’s going to be physics at Imperial College in London”, Editor-in-chief Lu An tells us.
Have you accomplished the goals you put up as a new board?
“We had put up goals, such as making a new design on the website, and basically making KZINE a better paper”, Lu An answers. “If we’ve succeeded, is up to our readers”.
What’s been most fun with KZINE?
“A big part of the fun is our cool members! Bills and such hasn’t been as much fun…”
Much has happened during the past year. It started with recruiting new members in August, but the interest was so big no PR campaign was needed. A couple of months later, a get-together was held, for the members to get a chance to hang out and get to know each other. The event was very much appreciated, and the whole thing ended with a big whipped cream war. Together they decided to introduce a Christmas calendar during December month. Hard work and good cooperation between the members made it a success. This made December the month with highest amount of readers, year 2008.
The seven board members have done a fantastic job, and have inspired others to work as hard and develop KZINE. Even though they’re now all walking separate ways and leaving Kungsholmen’s Gymnasium for ever, their work for KZINE will never be forgotten.
Thank you for pushing us when we didn’t have the energy to. Thank you for yelling at us when we didn’t make our deadlines. Thank you for editing our articles to pieces. Most importantly, thank you for being so incredibly devoted, ambitious, understanding, clever, inspiring, and for always believing in us.
It’ll be hard to take over after a board like you, but we’ll do our best. We wish you all luck in the future. Farewell, archangels.
